FIRST GAME THIS WEEK / START OF SEASON PARTY / CLUB CAPTAIN
ELECTIONS / MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER AT TRAINING
FIRST
ROUND v PETERSHAM THIS SATURDAY
Here we go... this weekend is the first match of the season.
We're playing Petersham, at Camperdown
Oval in Camperdown.
Fourths kick off at 12 Noon so make sure you get there early, and
hang around late to support the club.
PRESEDENT'S MESSAGE
We are now at the
sharp end of the season, I would like to thank all the coaches and assistants
who have contributed to making preseason a success and all those who played or
assisted with the trials. The teams we played against have all commented on how
they enjoyed the hit out against such a well run and sportsmen like group of
players.
2007 is a special year for Hunters Hill Rugby; we have a thirty-year
tradition of success in the year of the lucky seven. Having won the
Kentwell Cup in 77, 87 and 97, given the hard work all players and
coaches have put into the pre-season I think it is reasonable for us
to expect success in 2007. Rest assured your committee is committed
to achieving success both on and off the field this season.
To that
end, we would like to welcome Andrew Harvey to the position of third
grade coach, having played last year Andrew will continue to play
this year with the added responsibility of coaching. Andrews’s positive and
friendly attitude has made him an instantly recognizable member of
our club and we wish him all the best in 2007.
This Saturday we play Petersham at Camperdown oval, they have a tradition
playing hard and effective Rugby, we will need to be at our best to
be competitive against them. The way to be at our best is to ensure
everyone is at training this week, it is important to ensure coaches
know who you are and what position you wish to play in. Make sure you
are at training this week so you get your name on a selection list.
Another very important reason to be at training on Thursday is to
elect your club captain for 2007. This is a very important role as
he represents both the club and players.
After the election, we will have a BBQ with drinks and a motivational
speaker. This is an important preseason tradition and not to be missed.
Look forward to seeing you there
Brett Ruth
President
START OF SEASON PARTY
We've organised a massive start of season party for the first home
game, against Brothers, on Saturday April 21 at the Pier after the
game.
During and after speeches there will be $3.50 schooners until 8pm, plus
a couple of Super 14 matches - the Chiefs v Sharks at 5.35 and the Waratahs
v Highlanders at 7.40pm. There's free beer until the first points scored
in the Waratahs game, and it's one they might actually win.
So get on down and start the season in fine style, straight after the
end of first grade until late.
CLUB CAPTAIN ELECTIONS / MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER
The last training session before the first game, on Thursday 12 April
is always the night where we elect club captain for the year. Make sure
you get down and vote for the person you think will be the best leader
of the club off the field!
To help encourage attendence and boost morale, we're also having a
barbeque, and a very special guest as a motivational speaker. Make
sure you don't miss this one.
