ROUND 2 vs BALMAIN
Balmain had an easy week last week against Brothers, so will be nice
and soft when we play them this weekend. The home ground is called
Blackmore Park, for a map and directions just click here. As per
last week, please make sure you are there at least an hour before
your game.
START OF SEASON PARTY
It was a big night on Saturday night after the first game, seeing
the first speech from our new club captain (more about that later),
a Waratahs game, and new Membership cards giving the guys discounted
drinks. Photos to come later. But they're not pretty.
A good night had by all.
NEW CLUB CAPTAIN JOHNSON
Last week Andy Johnson was elected Club Captain narrowly over Renny
Isles. In his acceptance speech, Andy said something, but because
he's pretty soft spoken and has a funny accent, no-one is really
sure what he said.
In his first speeches following the games on Saturday, Andy did demonstrate
that he's the right man for the job, being 'invited' to have a drink
several times during his speeches and not blinking. Good to have
you on board, Captain Johnson.
FUNDRAISING
This week at training we will be handing out big boxes of chocolate
and raffle tickets to as many people as will take them. We'd really
like some players other than props to put their hand up and help
- the money for these will be going towards our playing kits for
the season, and a large chunk towards the Byron tour. Please put
your hand up to help guys, it will be much appreciated.
Chris Groves is the point man with the fundraising activities, for
any questions, or if you want more chocolates, grab him at training
or email him here.
ANDY BALL STANDS UP
Tired of no-one listening, Andy Ball has found a way in which people
are forced to listen. Five minutes of stand up. Self confessed
sly grog runner Andy Ball again takes to the stage and hopes that
people laugh. 'I'm always much funnier when I'm pissed' says Andy,
'and tougher, and better looking oh oh and richer.'
This stand up attempt, includes such well known jokes as, why do
clowns smell funny? and what's up with late night kebabs?
Location - Roxbury
Hotel - Glebe
Time - 30th April 8pm start - arrive early and have something to eat.
What to bring - spare jokes for Bally
BYRON BAY TOUR
If you're planning on touring, or interested in touring this year,
Chris Groves is on the lookout for tour deposits. This is a $50
commitment up front to the tour, and also contributes to the bond
for the house. All tourists also need to make sure that they have
their rego fees paid up in full, as this covers your insurance
for the tour.
Interested in finding out more about the tour? Have
a look at last year's tour
report here, or you can email Grovesy here.
