Welcome to 2009 at Hunters Hill Rugby!
FINAL TRIAL
This Saturday the 28th of March 2009 sees the last trial game of the season. We play Hornsby in a fully graded trial starting at 12 o’clock and running til we finish. Your position within the grades will be communicated to you at training this week. Training starts at 6.30pm sharp on Tuesdays and Thursdays. BBQ and Bally Bar after training on Thursday.
THE TRIALS SO FAR
On what has been produced so far, Hunters Hill Rugby can be very optimistic about our fortunes in 2009. As a club we have yet to drop a game in the trial season and even more pleasingly have so far embraced the free-flowing and open style of the new ELVs. Given that such play has often coincided with temperatures approaching 30 degrees, the hard work engaged in by many of our players in the off-season is also paying off.
It is significant that some of the brightest sparks provided so far have come from new players to the club. Recruitments from rugby strongholds such as England, New Zealand and Joeys should ensure that the Club will enter Season 2009 posessing a depth not seen for some years. Promising stuff. View trial action here.
REGISTRATION
As this is the last trial before the season you need to ensure you are registered BEFORE Saturday. Please see Renny at training this week.

TRAINING REVIEW
Tuesday and Thursday training attendance have both been solid whilst not being spectacular. Given that this week we play graded trials and next weekend is the Big Show on the Big Stage, it is imperative that playing personnel make it to training this week to develop combinations and build on fitness.
UNDER 85KG COMP
Saturday saw our first hit out for our under 85kg team against the St Ives Colts, who were quite surprised to see some of our more senior players run out as a “colts” team. The boys went well and there are still openings for players eligible for this category. Please see Bruce Lycett at training if you wish to join. This is a mid-week comp and does not interfere with the weekend games.
NEW PHYSIO AND STRAPPING TAPE
We have a new Physio at the club this year, Kym Moore, who joins us from Northern Districts Physiotherapy. Kym has already proved to be a success at the trials and is with us for the season, please make her feel welcome. Make sure you make yourself known to her if you need any help with strapping or injuries on Saturday.
Due to rising costs of tape and the sheer volume of tape used by the club, this year will see us forced into following the same path as most of the subbies teams and we will be charging for strapping tape used for strapping players prior to the start of the game. We will still supply tape for any injuries sustained during the game. Tape will be available from the canteen or you can bring your own.
NEW JERSEYS
Trial season 2009 has not only provided good-looking rugby but also included good-looking teams. All grades have run out in brand-new fitted and lightweight jerseys. The First and Second Grade jerseys, modelled by two of our more dashing specimens can be viewed here.
PLAYER PROFILES
During your registration you may have been asked to complete a players profile form. These are now making their way on to the web site and are available to be viewed here:
If you have not completed one yet, please see Renny at training. Warning: if you do not complete all sections, they will be completed for you!
These profiles will be updated throughout the year with serious content such as points scored, beep test results, etc.
Those in the higher grades will also have their portrait taken on the next couple of Saturdays to be used for further website content. Yet another reason to get to Boronia Park this weekend.
BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPHY
Efforts to put up weekly game-day action shots on our Hunters Hill image blog have been met warmly by the narcissists among us. Should you or anyone you know wish to take photographs during this season, please email Jules Arndt at julianarndt@hotmail.com the best and most “blog-worthy” pics for display.
2009 DRAW NOW AVAILABLE
The draw for 2009 is now available, you can view via our website here: http://www.huntershillrugby.org.au/onTheField/draw.htm or from the subbies web site here: http://www.rugby.net.au/extra.asp?OrgID=7&ID=5985
A number of clubs have moved divisions meaning that this year's opposition (and hence their home grounds) will be different to years gone by.
We say goodbye to Blue Mountains and the infamous Blue Mountains bus trip but welcome Epping, Merrylands and Hills into Division 3 this year.
