THE TRIALS ARE OVER!
Unbelievable as it may be, we have already made it through another pre-season. The last hit-out against Hornsby was another successful affair; particularly pleasing given the number of tries the club is scoring. Our results in the trials are in no small part to the coaching staff’s efforts, particularly Chris “Axe” Atkins, in bringing us up to speed after a long and lazy summer. The club can be very confident that when the clock strikes noon on Saturday all grades are well-prepared and well-conditioned to duke it out with Epping.
5 games and 215 club championship points on offer on Saturday. Lets begin as we mean to go on.
View trial action here.
WET WEATHER TRAINING
In the event of wet weather during training nights, always remember the golden rule “TRAINING IS ALWAYS ON”. Throw your runners in your bag ALONG WITH your boots as we may have to stay off the oval, but wet weather is no excuse to call of training. I am sure Axe will come up with something to replace the 400m sprints.
THE SEASON IS UPON US
As above Season 2009 starts this Saturday at Boronia Park against Epping, whom we saw during the trials and are new to our division.
Games start at 12 for 4th Grade, 1 for 3rd Grade, 2 for 2nd Grade and 3.15 for 1st grade, all on Boronia No. 1. 5th Grade will kick off at 1.15pm on Oval 2.
CLUB CAPTAIN ELECTION AND MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER
Prepare to be motivated. This is your chance to elect the Club Captain for 2009. The Club Captain election takes place after training on the 2nd April 2009. Motivation session commences after the club captain election. BallyBar and BBQ as well. For a full list of social events please click here.
PLAYER PROFILE UPDATES
During your registration you may have been asked to complete a players profile form. These are now making their way on to the web site and are available to be viewed here.
If you have not completed one yet, please see Renny at training. Warning: if you do not complete all sections, they will be completed for you!
These profiles will be updated throughout the year with serious content such as points scored, beep test results, etc.
This week sees the start of the profile photos taken on Thursday night, probably before the motivational speaker as we don’t want you looking like this guy. Bring any aesthetic enhancers you deem necessary whether they be hair gel, head wax, moustache combs or a brown paper bag.
START OF SEASON PARTY
This week we will have the season launch party at the H’s after the game. Nibbles will be supplied and you will have the added bonus of hearing the new club captain give his inaugural speech.
JERSEYS FOR SALE
As the club has obtained new Jerseys for 2009, we have the rare opportunity to offer the jerseys of years gone by to club members. All proceeds go to our club. There are various colour combinations available including and limited to “black and white”.
REGISTRATION
As this is the first game of the season you need to ensure you are registered BEFORE Saturday. Please see Renny at training this week.
REGO FEES
Due to the financial crisis gripping the world at the moment, rego fees remain the same as last year: $200 for Seniors and $150 for Students. We are taking payments on Tuesday & Thursday nights or you can pay via direct deposit. If you don’t have the whole lot up front, then we have payment plan options, pay a deposit now and pay the rest off before game 4. It would be prudent to have at least $100 paid off by this week to ensure your insurance payments are covered.

STRAPPING TAPE UPDATE
Last week we announced that all players will have to buy their own tape this year, however we would like to qualify that this week and let everyone know that if you have paid your fees then tape will be supplied. Tape will be available from the canteen or you can bring your own.
NEW JERSEYS
Trial season 2009 has not only provided good-looking rugby but also included good-looking teams. All grades have run out in brand-new fitted and lightweight jerseys. The First and Second Grade jerseys, modelled by two specimens can be viewed here.
BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPHY
Our fledging image blog remains a success. Should you or anyone you know take photographs during this season, please email Jules Arndt at julianarndt@hotmail.com the best and most “blog-worthy” pics for display.
2009 DRAW NOW AVAILABLE
The draw for 2009 is now available, you can view via our website here or from the subbies web site here.
A number of clubs have moved divisions meaning that this year's opposition (and hence their home grounds) will be different to years gone by.
We say goodbye to Blue Mountains and the infamous Blue Mountains bus trip but welcome Epping, Merrylands and Hills into Division 3 this year.
