Hunters 20 - Hornsby 12
In the semi Final against Hornsby a very pleasing result was achieved. We put pressure on the opposition from the outset and played for extended periods of time in their half of the field. This resulted in us scoring a good try from enthusiastic lead up play.
Our scrum and line out were again sound and provided us with a strong base from which we could, and did, move forward. This was pleasing to see.
We do however have to have more patience and respect for possession. We were stripped too often and tried too many unnecessary passes off the ground and out the back of the hand. This only caused loss of momentum and frequent turn over of the ball. This was coupled with a period when we temporarily switched off and let Hornsby in for two tries were the only blemishes in an otherwise good performance.
We took the game to our opponents and played strongly throughout the match. This resulted in us scoring three good tries and forcing the penalty which gave us an eight point buffer. This shut Hornsby out of the game.
If we keep our rugby thinking brains switched on we are two matches away from potential glory.
It can be done.
