New Club Coach Announced!

Pear

ClintPhoto.png

Last night, the Hillies community welcomed new Head & Club Coach Clinton Allardice, who put the boys through their paces in the first session for 2017.

Clint is taking the reins from departing Head Coach, Rayne Simpson who led Hunters Hill to one of their most successful seasons in recent times. Joining the Club in 2016, Rayne instilled a culture of commitment, comradery and community, which was reflected in some superb on-field and off-field performances. Rayne’s professionalism & experience shone through in Hunters Hill’s Barraclough campaign, with 1st grade winning the club’s first premiership in 5 years. Rayne is moving overseas to Fiji for the next chapter in his life, however he’ll always be Hillies. Rayne’s partner in crime Mark Gudmunson will also be moving to Sydney’s Shute shield to further his coaching career and we wish him all the best. Please join us in thanking Rayne and Mark for their services to Rugby at Hunters Hill.

Hunters Hill warmly welcomes Clint Allardice to take on the challenge of securing Subbies Glory in our 125th Year. Clint brings with him plenty of experience, coaching at premier Shute Shield clubs in Sydney & refereeing at the highest level in Australian Club Rugby. Most recently, Clint has been coaching at Shute Shield powerhouse Sydney Uni, where he took his teams to three grand-finals and two premierships including a 2nd Grade 2015. Please join the committee in welcoming Clint and his family to Hunters Hill!

Hunters Hill to take on Blue Mountains for Barraclough!

Seagull

Image thanks to Peter at Boronia Park Framing Studio - boroniaparkframing.com.au

Hunters Hill First Grade play the Grand Final this Saturday, against the Blue Mountains, who they narrowly beat 24-17 in the preliminary final only two weeks before. Blue Mountains booked the date by beating Waverley 23-22 with a penalty in the last minute after Waverley looked to have stolen the game with a converted try with just minutes to go.

The Game kicks off at 3.00PM (note the earlier start) at TG Milner, Eastwood. We will then return to our major sponsor The Bayview in Gladesville where we have the verandah set aside and the Bledisloe will be on the big screen.

In the lower grades:
Hills Rugby Union Club has been this season’s nemesis for Hunters Hill lower grades, knocking out Hunters Hills 2nd Grade in the first week of the finals, and despite a gutsy second half by Hunters Hill 3rd Grade, Hills RUC was clinical enough in attack to ensure they went through to the Grand Final at Hunters Hill expense.

Hunters Hill struck early on in the game to take a 10 nil lead but two tries from Hills fly-half Jeremy Lawlor helped Hills go into the half time break up 24-10. Hunters struck back in the second half through halfback Dom Bullock, but were unable to turn a forward pack dominating in the scrum and breakdown into further points, going down 24-15.

Jordan "Seagull" Butler Elected Club Captain!

Pear

On 31 March 2016 Jordan Butler was elected by popular vote as the Hunters Hill Club Captain for Season 124.

The role marks the high point in a glittering career at Hillies for the rangy Grenfell product following his debut in 2009.

Over seven seasons, Jordan has served the Club in innumerable roles including Secretary, Treasurer, Vice-President, Publicity Officer, Bus Trip Organiser and Juniors coach while finding time to be the X-factor in two Premierships (Stockdale 2010 & Barraclough 2011), crossing the line over 60 times in almost 150 games.

He becomes the first player since Alex Vertoudakis in 2012 to simultaneously hold both the positions of First Grade and Club Captain.

A clubman's clubman, we wish Seagull luck in what will be a massive year.
